Hello everyone,

Life can be so surprising sometimes, right? Some are good surprises; some, not so much. That’s life.

Among good surprises come times when we get to celebrate due to sudden, amazing reasons. Talking about fashion, sometimes it becomes a little hectic when  we have nothing to wear for that impromptu celebration. Being Indians, the worst cases are the ones which involve ethic clothes. Trust me, I’ve had a lot of such celebrations where I had nothing Indian to put on.

Also coming with new trends, Indian wear has been seeing  a new, so called, Modern Ethnic trend. There are many combinations, ethnic silhouettes but western prints and vice versa, so many others too.

Both of these above ideas is where I took my inspiration from for this post. I created two looks which are the perfect versions of mod-ethnic. You don’t need to buy new clothes, you don’t need to go to the store but you have some amazing, quirky clothes for the surprise celebration! 😀

Let’s go on it.

LOOK 01.

AS you see, I created the first look with my long slit top from Forever21. With the going time I have realized that these slit tops are one of  the most versatile pieces of clothing I’ve come across. They don’t disappoint you. Never.

For bottoms, I decided to do a dhoti. Yes, I ‘DID’ the dhoti.Dhotis are everybody’e new favorites and sadly I didn’t own one. I wrapped it on my own from a piece of fabric that I bought long ago but never really used. And if you’re wondering that a wrapped dhoti wouldn’t be comfortable enough and would be a big hurdle while going to do your natural business (If you know what I mean!), you’re wrong. If wrapped nicely they work just as a normal ready-made dhoti.  Let me know if you want a tutorial on the same! 🙂

For ethnic looks, accessories are a must. You just can’t miss out on these. For this look I wore this long golden, multi plated neckpiece. I used an earring as a ‘maang tika’, added a bindi and wore my glasses to add a quirky nerdy vibe!

For shoes, I decided to exempt the regular ethnic heels and went for these lovely golden flats from Zebba shoes!

Of course it’s your choice to style yours, the way you want it. Enjoy the pictures!

LOOK 02.

Ever since I started wearing Indian clothes, keeping in mind that I’ve always been a tomboy, I have always loved Patialas and short kurtis. I think everybody agrees because I’ve seen a lot of things come and go but a Patiala is still loved and worn by us all. It is evergreen.

For this look I decided to pair my Fuscia colored Patiala that I got made for my cousin’s wedding, with a simple black shirt. It reminds  me a lot of what Haryanvi ladies wear. Trust me this is one look you can not go wrong with. 😀 It just stands out.

For accessories I decided to add another color to the whole outfit, color blocking in a sense. Mint is one of my absolute favourite colors for summer and so I went for a lot of mint accessories and even the same colored shoes!

Take a look at the pictures. 🙂

Well, well, this was it ladies (and gentlemen, if there are any!). I hope you like these easy going modern ethnic looks that I created. Do give a thumbs up if you did and pour in your lovely  feedback too.

The amazing pictures are taken by my very own favourite Arpita De. Please do check her work out. Its beautiful. ❤
