I’ve always been an old soul. My ideas of romance and life in general are quite outdated in today’s age of Bumble and Tinder. Of course, older ideas like patriarchy and everything that comes with it has no place in my life. One can say that I have filtered the good from the past and left the rest behind. Does that make sense? Maybe not.
My fashion choices of course have been influenced by these old ideals and I seem to be stuck in a time machine that keeps going back. Some days I love to play the 90’s grunge obsessed kid and other days a 70’s country girl. Seems like fashion trends in general are living the same life. Fashion repeats itself every thirty years, my professor at NIFT once declared in class. At the moment we are all going through some flare from the 70’s, defined waists from the 60’s, denim craze from the 90’s amongst other things. Fashion right now is basically khichdi, but you must know, I love khichdi.
Today, we are talking about the corset-like tops that have been a rage on the runway for the past two seasons. While corsets have been a sign of oppression for ages, I love how it has come back without these signs. To wear it or not is a choice now and till the time it only means fashion, I’m good.
So for this, I chose two beautiful outfits from Urth, both of which featured a defined, corset like structure on top. The skinny frame that I have, I needed to get some alterations for the best fit but other than that, you can see how gorgeous the pieces are. Take a look!
What do you say? Are you ready to hop on this train now? Let me know in the comments.
