Let me start with a funny story. When I was a kid, about 6 years old, my cousin got married. And among other clothes for the wedding, me and my brother were bought a pair of dungarees each.. My brother decided to wear it everyday, EVERY DAY. After a day of the wedding, the men of the family, along with all the kids were supposed to go pick up our cousin from her in-laws’, as per the traditions. My brother insisted on wearing the same dungarees, again! My mom had given them out for a wash but my brother wouldn’t budge. And as life (or my mom!) would have it my brother had to decide whether to go without his dungarees or not go at all and in between his crying fits, we decide to leave him to it. Haha!
Time as a concept has always intrigued me. It is the most complex and yet the simplest. Have you ever felt that you do not belong to this time period? That you wish you were born in some other time? Now of course, there were a lot of hardships back then but therecan be a lot of reasons for this longing too. It can be fashion, art, politics, romance, anything.
I have no particular style statement really. If I am the edgy punk girl today I can be bohemian one the next and a boss lady the other. However, I constantly find myself torn between two eras the most. The 70s and the 90s. They are the most appealing to me and I couldn’t be happier for the fact that they are both also one of the most trending ones right now.
Why that title you think, don’t you? Well, I like my soup with a lot of different things in it and just that like that today’s story is a mix of all different things I like. From bardot tops to flared pants, from choker necklaces to vintage sunglasses everything is my current favourite. What are your season’s favourites? Let me know in the comments.
How are things rolling your side. My side has been full of new things. I have a huge surprise coming for you guys but you’ll all have to wait a little. Apart from that, heat has been soaring here in Delhi and I’ve finally managed to get an AC. Laugh as you may but this is the first time I have an AC in my room. For the first fifteen minutes I didn’t even know what different things the remote could do. Well back in my home town, Nainital, we don’t even have fans let alone ACs. It’s funny how things may be very regular and normal for one person and completely new to another one.
Anyway, enough of my stupid theories, let me talk about what we are discussing here today! But before anything, let me ask you, DO YOU STALK? No, don’t you lie. I know you do. Everyone does. In fact, I’ll be honest, I sometimes find myself looking at the pictures of my friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s best friend. Yes, I have different levels. But, even if we don’t stalk people, we end up stalking other things we like. Like for me, clothes and shoes. I window shop online. ALL THE TIME. I know you do too and this one you can’t deny.
Hello, you beautiful people!
How are you today? I have been working my ass off on creating a bridal collection for college. All virtual. All killing me. The best part is, I am taking a break by writing this blog. Wohoo!
For those who do not really know, I started this blog solely for those who, like me, find it hard to spill out thousands on clothes from big brands and at the same time, hate wearing the same thing each day. This is where styling comes in. If done right, you can have a different outfit every single day from the same pieces in your wardrobe. And this is why I always come up with more than one look to show you how that garment can be worn in multiple ways.
It is all coming back. Fashion repeats itself every 30 years they say and in a life span of 23 years I’ve seen it doing much more than that and more frequently.
I have been more than excited for this post for a long time now. There are two big reasons for the same, one I get to work with my best friend and a very successful blogger Komal Pandey of The College Couture. Second, that I get to show my love for the 90’s fashion, something I grew up with. Wohooo!
