How To: Sympathise with Jumpsuits!

This might be the millionth time I am saying this but clothes have the power to make me feel how I want to feel. Now it may differ from people to people but there are a certain things in life that make us happier. For some it might be the weather, the sight of their partner, for me it definitely is clothes and shoes. (Oh and dogs too!).

As Sophie Kinsella rightly puts it, “I love to wear new clothes. If everyone  could just wear new clothes  everyday, I reckon depression wouldn’t exist anymore.”

Upcycling with Doodlage- Editorial, part 02.

How many times have you broken rules? Done things you shouldn’t have? Now, I am definitely not talking about crimes here. Don’t you drag me into jail with you! But things like, taking pictures in a ‘photography not allowed’ area or bunking a class or simple as eating sushi with your hands!

For the second part of my story with Doodlage, we broke a rule or two. I really wanted to shoot it at a brand new location. So we decided to go for the parking of a shady mall with shopping carts lying around (I had been there once, so I knew!) . I have always fancied the idea but never got to doing it. Even the idea of fooling around with the carts is so much fun, let alone actually using it.

Let’s begin today by understanding what upcycling means. No, it is not the same as recycling. Not until a few months ago, I thought they were synonymous too.

An example might help. So, if you recycle a bottle per say you would crush it and the plastic will be used for other purposes. (You can’t even do that at home!) However, upcycling the bottle would mean, maybe, painting the bottle and using it as a vase! Wasn’t this simple?

The question is, why am I giving all of this ‘gyaan’ here!Thats because we are upcycling with Doodlage today. If you haven’t heard of the brand yet, you’re definitely doing something wrong. It was about last year when Doodlage caught my attention for its stand-out patterns and comfortable designs. But little did I know that there is so much more to the brand than just designs and patterns!

STEAL FROM YOUR MAN!

“I have nothing to wear!”

Story of our lives.

With a wardrobe stuffed with clothes, I still find it hard sometimes to find what to wear and I know most of you go through the same thing. It has always been the same. As kids, me and my brother only received two pairs of clothes a year and we were never happy. But now, even when my wardrobe door is almost jammed, I still throw a fit at times on how I have nothing appropriate. Haha. I think that’s how it will always be. Not to forget that we still manage to dress fabulous even after all of this drama.

But, as crazy as we can get, we are never tired of new clothes. So today I am going to talk about how to get some more. Steal from your man. Now that man can be your father, brother, friend, boyfriend, husband or even the men’s section of a store!

I have always been a fan of androgynous clothing. I love how comfortable and fun it can be! Since times immemorial, I have shopped from stores meant for men. The t-shirts are my favourite. We never get such rad prints on t-shirts meant for the ladies, ugh. I mean, can’t a girl enjoy some witty graphics or pictures on her chest? Sure, we can!

How to : Fashion in rains!

It rained today.

I was talking to a Delhi boy a few days ago and he told me that he had, never in his life, voluntarily enjoyed the rains! What? Although, I can’t really blame him. The rain here brings much more problems with it, the traffic, the dirty puddles and extreme humidity amongst many others.

Being raised on a hill station, I have always loved the rains. Me and my bestfriend would never take our umbrellas to school. This was when we were teenagers and thought we may find the love of our life offering us an umbrella. Never happened but we enjoyed it all. The fog and chilly winds made it even more beautiful and sipping on some tea while you watch TV was the best thing ever.

As children though, our parents took great care during the rainy season because it would rain days and nights straight. We had raincoats that would stink and had a pouch space for our school bags to fit on. On top of the raincoat we had an umbrella too and gumboots were quite common. I remember sometimes the rains were so heavy that some kids would still school dripping wet and they were asked to strip so the sisters at school could iron their clothes. Too many stories to talk about.

WHY!?

Disclaimer: This post is going to be deep.

So I get a lot of questions on why I do what I do and why I always have to do things a certain way. I am going to try answer these today.

So not until long, I was just another random person with no identity of my own. I was preparing for CAT right after graduation and honestly did not know what I wanted to do with my life. I used to come home and cry every day because I knew that CAT was definitely not my calling. Fashion was always an important part of my life but it always took a back seat.

How to: Style a Saree, part 04.

Yeah I know this one took a lot of time. Why? I have been sick for the past three days straight. Maybe you care, maybe you don’t but we are here for something else! This fourth look is very close to my heart. To most of you, it will come out as funny, stupid and ‘oh-she-is-trying-too-hard’ kind. For me it is so ME. If you have followed my blog you know about my love for casual sporty looks.

So my fourth and last reason for having done this series is that sarees too can be an everyday casual thing. I know they’re hard and such a fuss but can be tried and honestly after having worn a saree this whole day for the shoot I was so comfortable in it by the end that it seemed like another piece of everyday clothing. My mother wears saree 365 days a year! No, I’m not kidding.

So before we dig in please do take a look at the three other ways I styled this saree in, here Part 01, Part 02 and  Part 03.
