Thanks to the Internet gods, every day I come across so many people doing some of the most amazing work I have ever seen in the 24 years of my existence! One such person is Babbu The Painter, a person as intriguing as her Instagram username. Babbu, documented as Babneet Lakhesar, was born in Punjab but her family soon moved to Canada. On my explore feed I once came across a denim jacket with the face of an aunty (a typical Indian aunty). On opening the profile I stumbled on more gems, my favourite being a t-shirt with Govinda’s face all over, there was no looking back after that. We got in touch soon and I knew I wanted to something with her someday, SOMEDAY.
I love playing around with fashion and the one thing that makes me look forward to mornings is dressing up. Sounds shallow? Well maybe. But, as long as it makes me happy, I do not care. For the longest time, just like the other fashion girls I kept chanting ‘I DO NOT FOLLOW TRENDS’, like if I did, it would be sin. Of course, trying out something that is currently not in trend will never be an issue for me. The problem is, I actually love everything that’s in fashion right now. And to think about it, what isn’t? The ’70s? Yes. The ’90s? Yes. The future? Hell, yes. And the serious FOMO issues I have in life, I doubt that not trying a new trend will only choke me to death. How can I judge it unless I try? (Not high-low hems though. Never tried those, never will!)
I fail to understand what that word means or stands for. Of course I am aware of all the meanings and synonyms we do attach to it. The first meaning that comes up when I type the word on Google says, “having qualities or an appearance traditionally associated with women, especially delicacy and prettiness.” I can agree with the first part of this sentence, but the second? That is sheer bullshit if you ask me.
Time as a concept has always intrigued me. It is the most complex and yet the simplest. Have you ever felt that you do not belong to this time period? That you wish you were born in some other time? Now of course, there were a lot of hardships back then but therecan be a lot of reasons for this longing too. It can be fashion, art, politics, romance, anything.
I have no particular style statement really. If I am the edgy punk girl today I can be bohemian one the next and a boss lady the other. However, I constantly find myself torn between two eras the most. The 70s and the 90s. They are the most appealing to me and I couldn’t be happier for the fact that they are both also one of the most trending ones right now.
Hello there you lovely folks,
I am hungry. NO seriously, after finishing the post I am going to hog on some junk. Thankfully this hunger can be easily dealt with, but there is one hunger which makes us go weak and just never gets satisfied. For me its my hunger for shoes! I mean I do like clothes, accessories and other stuff too but man oh man shoes are orgasmic. I am sure, for you too there is something in life which makes you devote at least 50% of your day thinking about it. It can be books, a new TV show, lipstick colours, just anything actually. Just like Joey had his sandwich, I have my shoes!
